What is your biggest writing fear?

What do you think you won't be able to accomplish with your writing, and how do you plan to overcome it?

  1. I have two writing fears: 1) Never finding an agent to represent my books and 2) Getting published and the book not selling very many copies. Fear #1 is the dominant one.

See, my husband and I do not have kids, but we'd like to have at least one child on this earth two years from now. Well, I know that when I eventually have kids, it will be harder to find time for myself to write. That's why I feel I must find an agent soon. My 2013 goal is to find an agent to represent me, then after that, I can breathe.

    1. First off, good wishes on the baby-front! I have several friends right now who are pregnant or planning, who also write novels, so fear not, it can be done!

Secondly, I haven't started my mini-quest for an agent yet, but just gaging by what other friends and acquaintances have done, you could be 40-50 queries in before an agent ever responds with a "Maybe". I'm thinking, just via my own research, that it's the quality of your query vs. the quantity of agents queried. I would treat it like any other résumé, and update the query periodically -- if one version doesn't work, maybe another will. :)
